Secondary school students of Egba Comprehensive High School and Asero High School, Asero, in Ogun State capital, Abeokuta, have been reportedly attacked the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Obantoko Division in Adatan Area Command of Ogun State, SP Alimeke Ignatius, with stones during a bloody street fight.

According to a report, students of the aforementioned schools engaged themselves in a bloody fight and disrupted activities of commuters and residents in Asero.

DPO Ignatius and some of his men rushed to the scene to maintain law and order but the reverse was the case.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said: “The DPO was hit by stones. The students were throwing stones and other objects at themselves during the fight.

“We cannot arrest the students because they are minors. We can only detain and counsel them, after which they will be released.”

It was also gathered that the secondary school students in Ogun State have recently engaged in attacking their teachers whenever they are punished for any unruly behaviour.
