Prince Adewale Laoye, the son of a former Timi of Ede, Oba Adetoyese Laoye, has unveiled the ‘Aafin Ilu (Palace of Drum)’, an outfit for the preservation and promotion of artistic legacies of the royal father, in Ede, Osun State.

At the unveiling ceremony witnessed by top personalities including the current Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal, Adewale said ‘Ààfin Ilu’ would be a perfect place for students, tourists, and people from all walks of life to learn about the rudiments of Yoruba and African culture.
He added that the outfit would also deliver artistic cultural presentations and education that would inspire and nurture a diverse cultural experience.
According to him, one of the late Timi Laoye’s legacies to the local media was the signature tune of the old Western Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation/Western Nigeria Television.

He said, “Above all, the long term objective of the centre is to redefine and showcase African cultural heritage through our innovations and artistic excellence.

“Serving as a tourist centre even before its rebranding from Rathdrum to Ààfin Ilù,this place has been a tourist attraction to local and international tourists. With this remodelling and development, the art centre will attract more tourists and contribute to the GDP growth of the state and the country at large.”
