'STAY AWAY FROM PROTEST CAPABLE OF CAUSING PANIC, FEAR IN THE SOCIETY' – OGSG TELLS CITIZENS

ABEOKUTA - Appeal has gone to the citizens of Ogun State to desist from protests that were capable of causing panic and fear,  thereby portraying the government in bad light. 
 
The State Governor, prince Dapo Abiodun made the appeal, during a meeting with the representatives of Itele community in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Areas, who staged a protest to the Governor’s Office Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying they should feel free to approach the agencies or ministries concerned with issues challenging their existence.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Honourable Afolabi Afuape, according to Sakirudeen Bashiru, Information Officer, Ministry of LG&CA, the Governor assured that his government would not  interfere with the traditions and values of any community or ruling house, adding that the government would always follow rules and due processin choosing Obas in every community of the State.

He said, government has not taken any decision on Itele stool, haven spoken with their lawyer on phone, as well as replied a letter written to him, noting that any grey area should be cleared with the ministry.

“I would have expected you to visit the ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and tender your case, this protest only showed that we have crisis that could not be resolved and up till now the Government has not taken any decision on Itele’s Obaship case”, he said. 

Speaking on behalf of Itele ruling houses, Mr. Lanre Balogun apologized for staging the protest, saying it was only meant to intimate and seek Government’s intervention on one Mr. Ademola Eletu Asorota who has been parading himself as member of Oosa family but was never a member of the family or any of the other three ruling houses in Itele Community
