The Nigerian Police Force has finally responded to the unrest taking place at Sagamu Ogun State, Nigeria. It is good to recall that prior to today, a resident of Sagamu named Tiamiyu Kazeem was allegedly murdered by the men of Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS)
The Nigerian police force has finally responded to the unrest that is currently taking place at Sagamu in Ogun State after a relentless call from citizens of Nigeria for the Police Force to respond and calm the situation.
It is also good to note that early this morning, the residents of Sagamu trooped out in their numbers to protest the death of a popular citizen called Tiamiyu Kazeem who was allegedly shot dead by men of the anti-robbery squad.
The protest did not really go as planned as it eventually leads to a face-off between the policemen and the civilians carrying out the protest.
The report gathered has it that there was shooting and some were allegedly killed.
The police force through their twitter handle has now stepped forward to respond to the situation, calling for calm and peace between the masses and the security operatives.
The police explained that the IGP has ordered the DIG FCID to now handle the investigation of the young man's death.
Adamu, who is the IGP has ordered Anthony Ogbizi, the DIG, to take charge of the case in Sagamu and carry out investigations surrounding the death of Tiamiyu which took place on Saturday 22nd of February, 2020. This he is to do with immediate effect.
He gave the order today. The police also added that the IGP commensurate with the family and friends of the deceased and assured that definitely justice will be served and anybody found guilty will be dealt with according to the law.
That is all from the Nigerian Police Force.
The citizens are not at all happy with the response from the police as they believed that they only released the statement out of pressure from the masses. And that the content should have been more detailed than it is.
Well, that is what we have, for now, hopefully, subsequently, there will be more statements to be released.
What do you think about the Sagamu chaos today?
Do you think the member of the police force handled the matter the right way at all?
Please share your thoughts. Thanks
