Maryam Sanda has finally been sentenced to death by hanging for killing her husband Bilyaminu Hilaru Bello in Abuja. He was the son to former PDP chairman Hilaru Bello.
Justice Yusuf Halilu of High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday, convicted Maryam of the crime adding that the murder was premeditated.
On hearing the verdict, Maryam Sanda fled out of the dock crying and shouting that she has been praying and fasting, asking God for forgiveness but her family was seen trying to console her.
It should be recalled that Maryam had stabbed her husband to death on the 19th of November, 2017 when a fight ensued after she alleged that he was cheating as she saw a text message on his phone.
An eyewitness has recounted that she has demanded for a divorce from he husband that day while holding his cloth tightly. He added that she made an attempt to stab him with a groundnut bottle but was stopped before finally killing him in the room.
The judge did not only refer to the crime act as unfortunate, he added that it was wicked. He added further that Maryam was not able to give any concrete reason for the death of her husband, therefore, she earn the verdict of execution.
It is really sad.
