ABOUT IYAMETO OF CANADA
Mrs Olufunmilayo Olumade (Funmi) is the National Coordinator of Oodua Progressive Union, Canada (OPU CANADA)a results-oriented team player with a dynamic combination of skills, experience and knowledge encompassing Customer Service, Human Resources and Office Administration augmented by over 30 years of work experience and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology.
A highly resourceful and results-oriented team player with strong negotiating, mediating and diplomacy skills together with proven ability to function productively within fast-paced environments, manage multiple tasks and meet stringent deadlines. I am an event coordinator, and Master of Ceremony for birthdays, traditional engagements, weddings and I have hosted and emceed different events in Canada, America, London and Nigeria. She is a skilled dance leader, a comedian, Movie Actress and Executive Producer who has performed in various stage and movie productions all over the world.

ACTIVISM
She is currently a Letter Carrier with Canada Post, a Union Activist and 3rd term Ontario Region Representative on the National Women’s Committee of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.
For the past 26 years, She coordinated the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Nigerian Canadian Youth Talent Show from 2006 to 2008 organized by the Yoruba Community Association (YCA). She was the Executive Director, Community Liaison for Miss Nigerian-Canada Pageant for three consecutive years, a two term General Secretary for the Nigerian Canadian Association (NCA) in Toronto, two term Vice President of YCA and currently the Secretary to the NCA Board of Directors . She was the First President of the Queens of Nigerian-Canadian Community (The Queens) and past Social Secretary and General Secretary of Eko Club of Canada.
As a devoted community leader whose devotion and service to the community has been recognized by numerous awards, to mention but a few, in 1998, AfriCanadian Journal awarded me the “Woman of the year”. In 1999, She was awarded O’dua Award of Recognition and In 2000, Community Service Award by Miss Nigeria-Canada Pageant. In 2004, As a result of her active involvement in organizing many community events, the honorary title of “Iya-Meto of Canada” was formally bestowed upon her by YCA. In 2006 and 2008, she was awarded YCA President Awards. I was the first ever "Afribana Queen" in 2009 Caribana Parade when Afribana was introduced. She was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for showcasing her culture
