On Monday, residents of Kawo in Kaduna set an alleged kidnapper ablaze and staged a protest, which led to the killing of an innocent man by the police.
This started at 9 am when the information was received that three strangers were trying to abduct people
In an attempt to catch the kidnappers, they barricaded the highway and blocked the roads. They succeeded in catching one person and set him ablaze.
While another suspect was caught by the police. Unfortunately, during the chaos, the police tried to separate the crowd and shot in the air in the process killing a man in the crowd and injuring three others.
An eye-witness say“Four people were shot, one died. The remaining three are in Kawo General Hospital".
“Now, the residents are demanding that the kidnapper in police custody should be released so that they can do instant justice on him.
“They said they won’t leave unless the kidnapper is released to them,’’ Dauda stated.
However the police's spokesperson has said nothing on the issue.
