Murang'a: 24 year-old prison warden found dead in her house

- Her body was found by her colleagues who went to visit her after failing to report to work

- They found her naked body lying on the bed in a pool of blood with stab wounds on the chest and abdomen

- Her clothes were strewn on the floor and there were indications as if there was a commotion in the house

- The body was taken to Murang'a county mortuary hospital as police review CCTV footage

A 24-year-old female prison warden working at Murang'a Prison has been found murdered in cold blood at her residential house located in Kiharu estate within the outskirts of the town and about 300 metres away from her workplace.

The lifeless body of Pauline Wangari Ngoi was discovered by her colleagues who went to check on her after she failed to report on duty, only to be confronted by her naked body lying on the bed in a pool of blood with stab wounds on the chest and abdomen.

Muranga County Police Commander Josephat Kinyua accompanied by Juliana Muthini and Julius Ruteere from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Department (DCI) led other officers to the scene of murder.

“The body of the officer had stab wounds on the chest and abdomen and we are investigating what could have led to the murder. We want to establish whether the death emanated from a love affair gone sour as the body was naked or whether it was just an assailant who murdered her but made it to appear as if the death as love related,” said Kinyua.

The death came after government rolled out a programme for security officers to start living outside their work stations and called for a harmonious coexistence between the officers and members of the public.

The deceased was killed in her bedroom and the door to the room together with the main door were not locked. Her clothes were strewn on the floor and there were indications as if there was a commotion in the house.

In one of the hands she held a knife that did not have blood stains that police suspect was placed on her fingers by the unknown assailant after she died.

Her fellow prison's officers whom she worked with wailed uncontrollably as her body as loaded into a police vehicle.

They described her as social and together with neighbours and members of the public who gathered at the scene wondered what could have led to someone taking her life in such a gruesome manner.

A woman who lives across the road and who wished her identity not to be disclosed told TUKO. co.ke that last on Saturday, March 11, at around 10pm she noted an unusual movements from a man who was walking stealthily along the balcony to her house but did not suspect anything suspicious.

“I recall seeing a man crawl on the verandah to the balcony leading to her house on the third floor but I did not suspect anything and it is likely it was the same assailant who may have come back later to kill her,” said the woman.

The deceased comes from Nakuru county and her body was moved to Murang'a county hospital mortuary.
