The salary crisis hitting some states in the federation is creating serious concerns in different quarters. According to a report in PUNCH newspaper, at least 12 states in the country
are owing their workers to the tune of N110 billion naira.
The states affected includes Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Kogi, Rivers, Benue, Plateau, Bauchi states and others. Governors under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors' Forum met during the week to discuss on the way out of the situation.
The governor made a resolution to meet with the president to make a demand for the refund of money they expended on executing federal government projects in their states.
Below are salary arrears currently owed by some of the states.
Oyo State - N15.9bn
Rivers State - N21 billion
Ondo State - N10bn
Kwara State - 3.4bn
