Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila
A rights group, The Registered Trustees of the Social Justice and Civil Rights Awareness Initiative has refused to withdraw the suit seeking to stop Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila from emerging as the speaker of the House of Representatives and also the legality of his membership before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
At the resumed hearing on Thursday, counsel to the group, Mike Ozekhome emphasized apart from the fact that the matter has become an academic exercise, the membership of Gbajabiamila is still in doubt.
But the defence counsel, Ayo Oladeji described the proceeding as a waste of time as the issue in contest has become a foregone conclusion.
The plaintiff is challenging Gbajabiamila’s membership of the house on the ground that he was convicted in the state of Georgia, United States of America, for unethical practices as a lawyer.
Justice Abdulaziz Kafarati has adjourned the case till September 21.
