ABEOKUTA - Ahead of Tuesday's election of Inter-Advisory Party Council (IPAC), Ogun State Chapter, the incumbent Chairman, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi has rescinded his decision to recontest for second term in office.

Arabambi, however, on Monday together with 67 members of the council in the state unanimously endorsed the state Mega Party Chairman, Asiwaju Adedamola Adesina as the new Chairman for the council for the next three years.

Arabambi said his decision to step down was to allow new innovation into the association, saying as a true democrat, he needed to step aside for new set of people to contribute their quota to the development of the association.

He noted that, the consensus candidate, Asiwaju Adesina has proven to be a reliable and dependable member of the association over the years, describing him as a worthy successor.

He said, "this is something unprecedented in the history of IPAC where the outgoing is able and successfully produce a successor. I want to tell the people of Ogun State that, IPAC is one body. Today, those who felt we would not be able to transfer power from the incumbent to the incoming, we have been able to put them to same.

"Today, Ogun State IPAC has unanimously, adopted, confirmed and approved the Mega Party Chairman in Ogun State, in person of Asiwaju Adedamola Adesina as the worthy successor. Tomorrow, we shall unveil him as our new IPAC Chairman."

He therefore assured Governor Dapo Abiodun of the association's relentless support for the progress of the State.

Speaking shortly after his endorsement, Asiwaju Adedamola Adesina thanked all members of the association for their trust and support, assuring them not to betray the confidence reposed on him.

Adesina said, he would hit the ground running immediately after the election tomorrow with a promise to surpass Arabambi's achievements.

"We are going to progress beyond where he has laid our hands. I thank him very much and all members of IPAC for considering me worthy to continue the good work of Arabambi.

"About 68 members are here today and have endorsed me. I thank all of them. I will not disappoint them."

In his own submission, the Chairman, Peoples Coalition Party (PCP), Otunba Femi Soluade said the endorsement of Asiwaju Adedamola was unprecedented as the key players have demonstrated spirit of sportsmanship for the benefit of all.

Soluade said, the key players were able to settle their differences which pave way for the successful transmission of power.
