'No Union crisis in Ogun' - Transport Committee Debunk Rumour

The transport committee in Ogun State has responded to a publication made by Victoria Ojugbana on 7th of October with the report indicating crisis in Ogun state. 

Below is the press release by the media committee to debunk the rumour: 

The attention of Ogun State Transport unions Commitee has been drawn to the malicious, ficticious and baseless article written by one Victoria Ojugbana of Independent Newspaper Limited, On 7th of October, 2019 against the committee.

The Transport Union Committee set up by Governor Dapo Abiodun wishes to inform the public that there is no crisis in the Transport unions in State. The State government had suspended the activities of all the unions, the government then appointed 13-man Commitee to oversee the affairs of the unions, especially in the sales of State Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tickets to transporters. To coordinate the sales of tickets across the 20 Local government areas, the transport committee appointed the sales agents who are experienced. Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin, also known as Iyeru was choosen from National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). He is responsible for the sales and remittance of monies realized into the Government bank accounts.

Contrary to what the writer wrote that it was only NURTW that had not been allowed to sell the union tickets, Since June 2019 when the transport commitee was inaugurated, no transport Union has been allowed to sell the union tickets, they were only selling the State Internal Revenue Service tickets as mandated by His Excellency, the Governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The overzealous Union leaders of NURTW at the National body led by Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa promised to disrupt the peace and harmony of the state. They distributed the Union tickets in Sango - Ota, Sagamu and Ijebu to ensure their violence plan in the state but  kudos to Nigeria Police Force of the state for their swift and proactive response. The Ogun State Police command had also been alerted of their unnecessary violence and crisis Baruwa and his cohorts planned to cause after the failed one. 

Consequently, The transport Unions committee wants to assure the public that the good recommendations of the committee would assist the State government on how to inculcate more discipline among unions leaders, to organize unions so as to ventilate the breeze of peace and harmony in the State.
