Even though the name Bobrisky might be synonymous with Bold, Daring and Stylish, many still see the need to let the male barbie know that his lifestyle isn’t welcome everywhere.

In a recent video, Bobrisky was spotted at a hotel in Abuja but not in the usual way. The Fashion forward transgender who was seen walking in Transcorp Hilton hotel got an unusual surprise from someone who seemed to be against the idea of a man identifying himself as a woman.

The angry man rained curses on Bobrisky as he walked passed the hallway. He insulted him severally on the grounds that he identifies himself as a woman. He said;
You dey see am as rubbish ? Bobrisky.
Boy where dey do like girl?

Not paying much attention to the individual who recorded the incident, Bobrisky barely lifted a finger as he walked past the angry fellow.
Well, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to the Nigerian male barbie and he is fully aware that not everyone on the streets welcomes the idea of a man posing to be a woman. Irrespective of what anyone thinks, Bobrisky continues to live his life to the fullest.
On Friday, 14th June, Bobrisky set social media on fire with a picture of the attire he wore at his friend’s wedding. The dress which was tagged ‘Green with Envy’ got peoples attention as the cross-dresser himself revealed that he was almost sent back because of his very stylish attire. I mean, which bride wants anyone to outshine them at their own wedding?
Anyway, though Nigerians today are familiar with only one transgender in the country, it will interest you to know that before Bobrisky came into being, there was another BOB.
Popularly known as The Calypso King, Bob Actor was a Nigerian actor and singer who was married with at least one child and wanted to live as a woman and sometimes dressed as one. He hoped to be the first African to have a sex change.
During an interview in February 1989 with Lagos Weekend, Bob stated that he had always felt like a woman trapped in a man’s body. He also spoke about getting a gender reassignment surgery and said he would get it done since it was already an option. Obviously, the idea of becoming a Nigerian transgender wasn’t birthed in this century.
For what it’s worth, though we do not always agree with peoples decisions or choice of lifestyle, it is advisable that we learn to respect people’s wishes and ideologies. No one deserves to be harassed for what they believe in.
