Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun, Senator Ademola Adeleke, will have to answer yet another case in court after he was dragged to a Federal High Court in Osogbo, Osun state capital, on May 15, by one Ajayi Shuaib, also a PDP member.

Mr. Adeleke has been in court for his governorship tribunal petition as his moves to reclaim his mandate from the winner of the 2018 election, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, APC

The fresh suit against Adeleke sees Shuaib ask the court to ascertain the authenticity of the certificate presented by Adeleke to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the election.

The suit, which was tagged FHC/OS/CS/16/2019, mentions PDP and INEC as second and third respondents.

The prosecuting counsel Seyi Oyagbile told the court that section 182(1)(J) of the constitution, “specifically states: a) provided that a candidate must present a certificate to INEC."

Oyagbile also prayed the court for an interpretation of section 182(1)(J) of the constitution in the case of the documents presented by Adeleke as his academic qualification to INEC.

He went on to say that if the court proves that the Adeleke's documents are fake, then he should not have been adjudged as a lawful candidate of the PDP in the first place.

Meanwhile, Adeleke had told the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja that his West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate he presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to secure clearance for election, is authentic.

He said on Tuesday, May 14, that he never forged the certificate as alleged by his opponents.

It’s been gathered that Adeleke insisted at the appellate court that the certificate attached to his nomination form CF 001 was lawfully issued to him and as confirmed by WAEC in its affidavit evidence submitted to the Federal Capital (Territory FCT) High Court.
