In a world where every Nigerian celeb wants to live in a porsh-like environment especially in Lekki, there are still some who prefer or have refused to join their colleagues by joining the band wagon and moving to Lekki. These celebrities have the money but have decided to just leave Lekki behind and focus on other things.

Join us as we look at Nigerian celebrities that left the ‘great Lekki’ for somewhere else:

1. Omotola Jalade Ekeinde

Yes! This Nollywood hot cake is amongst the few celebrities living the life on the mainland. With the kind of money she has, everyone wonders why the actress lives in a simple neighbourhood in the lowly Iyana-Oba area of the metropolis along with the rest of her family.

In 2017, the actress and her husband, Captain Matthew Ekeinde moved into their new house. But Omotola seems proud about where she stays and that’s all that matters!

2. Remimisce

The Alaga Ibile himself! Reminisce is another act that has refused to move to Lekki. The Times magazine world rappers to know recently completed his mansion in Ikorodu and has no plans of moving to Lekki anytime soon.

3. Ronke Oshodi Oke

Popular Yoruba actress, Ronke Oshodi Oke is another great fan of the mainland. The actress even revealed she has been living in the Abule-Egba axis of Lagos State for a very long time and feels really comfortable there. Ronke is a Nigerian film actress, musician, director and producer.

Ronke is a descent of Ondo State but was born in Oworonshoki, Lagos State Southwestern Nigeria, where she completed her primary and secondary education. She began her acting career with a drama group called Star Parade under the leadership of Fadeyi, a Nigerian actor but became an household name in the year 2000 when she featured in a movie titled Oshodi Oke, from which she got her stage name. Her musical career began in 2014, the same year she launched her debut album which is yet to be released. In 2015, she released a single titled Ori Mi which featured 9ice.

4. 9ice

Singer 9ice also doen’t live in Lekki. Infact! 9ice completed his  cream-coloured duplex, already named Alapomeji Villa in Abule-Egba area of Lagos State back in the year 2009. is a Nigerian musician. He is married to Adetola Anifalaje. (m. 2018). He is a south-westerner from Ogbomoso in Oyo State but he grew up in the district of Bariga in Lagos.

In 2014, 9ice revealed that he was going to contest for a political office in his native Ogbomosho in Oyo state. He joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) and declared his interest to contest for a seat at the Federal House of Representatives. He lost out during the primaries. 9ice was named as a Special Adviser to the Oyo state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

5. Chinedu Ikedieze

Veteran Nollywood actor, Chinedu Ikedieze makes the list at the number 6th spot and lives on the biggest estate on the mainland, Omole Phase 1.

When asked by our correspondent what inspired his decision to stay on the mainland rather than move to the Island where most of his colleagues in the movie industry resides he maintained that he doesn’t like the lifestyle in that part of the state. According to him, he loves to live a simple life void of competition and packaging. He said most celebrities on the island live fake lives and always try so hard to keep up appearances.

6. Osita Iheme

Just like Chinedu Ikedieze, Osita Iheme stays on the mainland too. If you didn’t know both friends and colleagues once stayed together in the same flat at Unity Estate in Ojodu Berger until one of them Chinedu, got married and they went their separate ways.

Presently, Osita Iheme stays at Agbalajobi Estate which is situated along Wemco Road, Ogba Ikeja. Funny enough his house is just a stone throw to Chinedu’s house.
