The Lagos State Government has issued fresh directives on the resumption of schools following the postponement of the general elections in the country by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The fresh directive was contained in a statement by the Director General of Education Quality Assurance, Ronke Soyombo, on behalf of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Adebule.
Schools in the state had earlier directed pupils and students to go on holiday from February 13 to February 18, 2019 for the first round of elections.
But following the postponement of the elections, Soyombo said Adebule has told all Lagos State school’s stakeholders and the general public that the state government is compelled by the change in election dates to further review the 2018/19 school academic calendar.
All schools are now to resume on February 18, 2019.
They are expected to close on February 22 and to resume on February 25 for the first round of elections and close again on March 8 and resume on March 11 for the other elections.
The statement added: “All public and private schools, school leaders and school associations should take note and adhere strictly.”
