ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! Millions Of Nigerians Ready To Go To Jail, Resist President Buhari’s Latest Dictatorial Order

Nigerians all over have taken a tough stand and reacted bitterly to the recent pronouncement by President Muhammadu Buhari, that hate speech would no longer be tolerated in the country, and that the Security Agencies should get to work, fish out all the hate speech makers, and bring them to book.

Recall, that President Buhari gave the directive at the 24th Convocation ceremony of the University of Uyo, on Saturday.

The President, who was represented by the Director of Corporate Communications, National Universities Commission, Ibrahim Yakasai, stated as follows:

“At this point, I want to be very clear and equivocal, that the Federal Government will never condone or tolerate incendiary remarks from any person or group of persons, which are meant to harass, intimidate, cause fear and spread hate, no matter how highly placed such a person is. Law enforcement Agencies should fish out people who make inciting statements, instigate civil disobedience, broadcast hate speeches or stir strife, riot and rebellion, and bring them to book. We should continue to live together as brothers and sisters.”

Reacting however on the social media, Nigerians strongly condemned the move by the President, with some terming it a ‘Dictatorship move’, and many declaring that the President should be ready to jail them, and possibly half of the entire country, as their right to freedom of speech would not be easily trampled upon by the Buhari administration.

See some of the reactions below:

We all used so called hate speech against GEJ including APC as a party so president Buhari should learn how to endure it …

Donald Trump should have arrested Trevor Noah then! Every citizen has a right to free speech, hateful or not. Its enshrined in the same constitution that brought this administration to power! We are not Saudi Arabia pls!

CNN would have shut down if they were in Nigeria. We are not Saudi Arabia. Please tell Mr President.

The die is cast.
Attention: @NGRPresident,

Firstly, if you cannot arrest the man who threatened us with “dog & baboons will soak in blood,” you’ll have no justification whatsoever to arrest anyone.

Secondly, you cannot define hate speech as the criticism of your govt

Thank you

Arrest El Rufai for causing the death of the King and people of Adara Kingdom and Kaduna people and blaming the pastors for “collecting money for burials in Kaduna”. He should call the names of those people. That is hate speech.
